The first permanent water wells were hand dug during the Neolithic Age, also known as the New Stone Age. The wells gave humans consistent access to water. Wells dug around 6500 BC have been found in the Jezreel Valley. The availability of water frequently determined the size of human settlements.

New Hanover Township Authority's mission is to protect the public health of all New Hanover Township Residents, and the environment, by providing high quality wastewater-treatment services in a prompt, courteous, safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.  New Hanover Township Authority, through its dedicated Staff, strives to plan, design, build, maintain, and operate sanitary sewer infrastructure in a manner that respects the environment in an effort to adequately preserve these assets for succeeding generations.
