On February 19, 1838 Revolutionary War veteran John Hill was buried at New Hanover Lutheran Church with full military honors. The Third Troop of Montgomery County Cavalry (Swamp Light Horse) fired a volley over the grave.

 The Township is offering a Fishing Derby event which is open to children ages 12 and younger.  The fishing derby will take place at Hickory Park, 2140 Big Road and will  be held on May 14 with a rain date of May 15 if necessary.  Anglers may toss in their lines to catch some very hungry trout beginning at 9:00 AM with the event concluding at 11:00 AM.  Prizes will be awarded for the smallest, the largest, the first caught, and the most fish caught.   A preregistration form including a "Wavier and Release of All Claims and Assumptions of Risk" must be signed by the parent of each child participating and returned to the Township office by May 6, 2022.  Completed registration forms may be emailed to   

NHT Hickory Hoopla!

NHT Hickory Hoopla is being held on Saturday, June 11th (rain date Sunday, June 12th) starting at 6:00PM at the Hickory Park which is located at 2140 Big Road in Gilbertsville.  This event will include Encanto playing on a 26’ Outdoor Inflatable Movie Screen, a Popcorn Machine, Games such as Fish Bowl, Duck Pond and so on, Bonfire/Campfire for S’mores, Children’s Costume Contest, Kona Water Ice Truck, Mister Softee Ice Cream Truck, and a Touch-A-Truck Event.  Click here for additional information.  This is a free event except for purchases made at the Kona Water Ice Truck, Mister Softee Ice Cream Truck and the Hickory Park Pool Concession Stand.

The Township's 34th   annual Fall Frolic is currently in its planning stage.  The event will take place at Hickory Park, 2140 Big Road, Gilbertsville, PA on September 17 from 12 noon to 5:00  PM (rain date Sept. 18).  Children's entertainment consists of crafts, games, rides and food;  for adults, there will be food truck vendors, information  and  local artisan booths.  There is no charge to attend the event.  Wrist bands will be offered at a cost of $10 and will entitle the wearer to participate in amusements, games and crafts for the entire afternoon.  The event promises to be a fun day with something for everyone.   Anyone wishing to participate as a vendor may contact Eileen Pogany at 610 323-1008 ext 101 or may download an application here.
