Easter Egg Hunt, Saturday, April 13 at 10:00AM

The annual Easter Egg Hunt is held at Community Park. There will be roughly 5,000 eggs filled with candy or toys. There will be a section for ages 4 and under and ages 5 to 10. After all the eggs are collected children will get to take their picture with the Easter Bunny. The Easter Egg Hunt will start at 10:00AM so please arrive early. Parking is available in the Park.  Attendance: 250+ 

The Parks and Recreation Department is looking for volunteers to stuff the eggs. If you are interested please call 610-323-1008 ext. 104.

Fishing Derby, Saturday, May 11 from 10:00AM to 12:00PM

The annual Fishing Derby is held at Hickory Park and is for children under 12. Children must bring their own fishing gear and bait. We do have a live bait machine at the park entrance. Participants must bring their fish up to the Recreation Tent to be measure if they would like to have a chance to win a prize. Prizes include; first fish caught, largest fish, most fish caught and smallest fish. Stony Creek Anglers will be donating the fish again this year.  Attendance: 30+

You must fill out a Fishing Derby Waiver to participate in the Derby.

Food Truck Festival, Saturday, May 18 from 12:00PM to 5:00PM

This is the 3rd annual Food Truck Festival at Hickory Park. This is our second largest event and is free for the public to attend. There will be food vendors, crafters, nonprofits and local business. We will also have yard games and music. The rain date for this event is Sunday, May 19. Attendance: 1,000+

Car Show, Saturday, June 8 from 9:00AM-12:00PM

The 1st annual Car Show will be held at Hickory Park. Cars of all makes and models are able to attend. Pre-Registration is $5.00 and day of the event is $10.00. There will be food, music and raffles for those in attendance. Awards will be announced at 1:30pm. Award Categories include: Best of Show, Best Custom, Best Truck, Best Street Rod and People’s Choice.

Touch A Truck Day, Saturday, June 22 from 10:00AM to 12:00PM

This is the 4th annual Touch A Truck. New this year we will be holding the event at the New Hanover Township Building. This location give residents the opportunity to check out the Public Works and Police Departments fleet of vehicles. We will also have vehicles from the New Hanover Fire Company and a local ambulance company. The Parks and Recreation Department will be selling soft pretzels and sodas. Attendance: 200+ 

 Fall Frolic, Saturday, September 7 from 12:00PM to 5:00PM

This will be the 32nd annual Fall Frolic held at Hickory Park. This is our largest event for the year and takes up the entire park. We will be selling wrist bands for all participants to enjoy the rides. This event also includes local businesses, food trucks, crafts and music. Stay tuned for more information on wrist band pricing and the rides. The rain date for this event is Sunday, September 8. Attendance: 2,000+

Halloween Safe House, Wednesday, October 30 from 6:00PM to 7:30PM

The 5th annual Halloween Safe House is held at the Recreation Center. Local businesses will have tables set up on the perimeter of the gym to hand out flyers, business cards and of course candy! There will also be children’s crafts, a photo both and a Halloween show/movie playing. Costume Awards will be announced at 7:00pm and include: most creative, most frightening, cutest, best of all, best homemade, best family theme. Attendance: 150+

 Breakfast with Santa, Saturday December 7 at 9:30AM

Breakfast with Santa will be held at the Recreation Center. Children and Adults will enjoy a delicious breakfast buffet. After breakfast they will get a chance to visit with Santa and take pictures. Children 3 to 10 will receive a goodie bag from Santa. You must pre-register for the event. Seats are limited. There is a fee for the event. Stay tuned for more information in the fall.
